Rail Component Bleed Valve

Project Description

Project

The fire risk considerations in the Channel Tunnel rail locomotives require that there is no waste oil in the vehicle. Valves were required to allow maintenance on the oil-cooled transformers without spillage. No such design of valve existed, so Active produced a component to answer the requirements.

Customer

Major locomotive building company.

Solution

A compact assembly designed to suit the installation. Various designs were required for applications throughout the locomotive. Active’s hydraulic experience enabled production of a valve that gave good service and also the security for the critical safety installation.

Sales

We have 600 units in service. The shuttle locomotives are in daily use through the Channel Tunnel.
